The United States Virgin Islands have endured catastrophic damage on all three island from Hurricanes Irma & Maria has left our islands’ families and their pets in turmoil. Prior to the devastation, we already had serious issues with pet overpopulation and stray pets. We now expect that to increase with families who have evacuated and pets that have been displaced or lost during the storms.
We need your help!
Many families on St Croix, St John and St Thomas have lost their homes or had significant property damage. Currently all the islands are mainly without power and under curfew: St Thomas & St John curfew is lifted from 9am to 6pm; St Croix Noon to 4pm. During that time, the entire island goes to FEMA distribution centers, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. And they need to find food and care for their pets. Sunshine Foundation is working to become a distribution center for pets in need for both food, medical care and spay/neuter services to prevent more displaced and homeless pets. With the recent storms, this mission is critical to the health and welfare of our islands.
